What you should be reading

If you have discovers the Parasol Protectorate series yet, you really need to hit up a library.  This book is prefect for those of us who love Victorian novels, but hate how verbose they can be--see Dickens...and supernatural meshes.  It's set in 1800s and the main character is a tea loving, witty aristocrat, Alexia.  We find out she is Soulless in the first book, which is titled Soulless, and learn exactly what that means and why it's important...like books tend to do.  I'm horrible at describing things without giving away too much, so here is the Amazon version:

Alexia Tarabotti is laboring under a great many social tribulations. First, she has no soul. Second, she's a spinster whose father is both Italian and dead. Third, she was rudely attacked by a vampire, breaking all standards of social etiquette.

Where to go from there? From bad to worse apparently, for Alexia accidentally kills the vampire -- and then the appalling Lord Maccon (loud, messy, gorgeous, and werewolf) is sent by Queen Victoria to investigate.

With unexpected vampires appearing and expected vampires disappearing, everyone seems to believe Alexia responsible. Can she figure out what is actually happening to London's high society? Will her soulless ability to negate supernatural powers prove useful or just plain embarrassing? Finally, who is the real enemy, and do they have treacle tart?

SOULLESS is a comedy of manners set in Victorian London: full of werewolves, vampires, dirigibles, and tea-drinking.

In my humble opinion, this book series is funny and full of colorful characters.  Anyone will enjoy Alexia's many one liners and I think the writer does an amazing job!!!!  PLUS, extra bonus, the fourth book JUST came out recently...so you have 4 books to catch up on before the 5th one comes out in March 2012!!!!  Trust me, you'll love this week's selection.
