Content vs. Knowledge

Anderson and Krathwohl create a delineation between content and knowledge in ch. 2 of A Taxonomy for Learning, Teaching, and Assessing stating that often the terms "knowledge"  and "content" are used interchangeably.

What I find so interesting about the section is that I've always considered knowledge converted content.  In my mind knowledge is what we seek when we study content.  However, Anderson and Krathwohl have constructed two separate instance where knowledge and content collide:
  1. When emphasizing that subject matter is "historically shared knowledge"
  2. And second, "to differentiate the subject matter content of an academic discipline from the materials in which the content is embedded"
