What you should be reading

I've been reading the trashiest books lately. Not trashy as in writing skills (although some are lacking a respectable editor)but trashy as in sex in every other chapter. To defend myself, I didn't go searching for these books. Someone loaned me one and I've been flying through them like they have crack in them or something! The plots leave a lot to be desired and as I stated earlier there are errors left and right, but still I continue to read. No lie, the Sunday before last I made it through two and a half of these books... I'm ashamed. Not really, but what makes us want to read stuff like this? Stuff that you can't even show the book jackets without being embarrassed. Anyway, that was the disclaimer for the book of the week. This was was not as bad as the others but it did have some very...intense scenes. This week's book is The Alpha Promise by Hayat Ali. This is a interracial vampire romance. I know... you're welcome. Read the summary below!!

Wonderfully sublime and altogether sexy, The Alpha Promise by Hayat Ali reinvigorates the tired genre of vampire tales. While the enticing action and bloodletting remains, this debut novel takes a smart look at the undead—their legions and their way of life. It is not at all as simple and unplanned as one might imagine. Vampires have a method, and even in a modern day London, the undead still have a high prince who ubiquitously rules over all the creatures of the night just as he has for centuries. Jin is the most recent prince due to be crowned; he has been groomed for an entire lifetime. Poised to take his rightful place, a dissenting tribe tries to assassinate him and if it wasn’t for the unwitting energies of a compassionate stranger—an American woman named Adina Carr—the tribe would have succeeded. What follows is an erotic and mesmerizing adventure, a fight for survival and, ultimately, a love story. (product review: amazon.com)
